Mooring Manager FAQs

How does the Waypoint work?
Sign up for an online Mooring Manager account for free and start taking paid online visitor bookings today. Our system advertises your vacant slips globally and allows yachtsmen to make paid bookings on-line. The free account deals simply with online bookings and does not change your current Marina Management software or system. You only need an internet browser and a connection to the web, including mobile tablets. The Waypoint's online bookings also plugs into many popular marina management softwares for automated online bookings.
-
Why should I use The Waypoint to manage visitor bookings?
Your Mooring Manager account comes with:
- A vacancy management tool
- An online payment portal
- A cash account to accept payments and bookings 24 hours a day, 7 days a week
- Vacant slips are automatically advertised online, in real time
-
My marina has a loyalty cruising program, how does this work on your site?
The Waypoint links boats with slips for the purposes of vacancy management. This in turn allows the site to identify your boat owner as a member of your scheme, meaning he can book moorings at participating marinas under the terms of your cruising scheme. Get in touch with us if you have special requirements you need met.
-
I have visitor slips at my yacht club, how does this site work for them?
Yacht clubs of all colors are encouraged to sign up to The Waypoint, allowing them to take paid online bookings and advertise their vacant slips through our marketing.
-
Do I get charged a fee?
Yes, 15% on any booking transaction made on the website. Accounts that Sign up before February of 2013 have no annual subscription cost for life. There is an annual subscription of $345 for Marinas with a Multiple User Account that sign up after this date. For full pricing and a look at different packages see this page; Marina Accounts. What do you do with my information?
All the information you provide to us is stored on our secure servers and is used by our staff to fulfill your bookings. Any payment transactions will be encrypted. To find out more, view our Privacy Policy.
-
Can I cancel bookings?
Yes. Should the need arise, you are able to cancel your bookings at any time by pressing the "make available" berth button in your overview calendar on that booking, and the rest is automatic. If you cancel more than 36 hours before the booking is due to take place the boat owner will receive a refund. However, if you cancel within 36 hours of his arrival date full payment will be taken and you will have to contact the boat owner yourself to arrange alternative accommodation or refund the booked fee.
If you are in a pinch, we can give you fast support to help with this process here: Contact Support -
How do I delete my account?
If you decide you no longer wish to be a member of The Waypoint, you can delete your account by entering your account settings and clicking Close Your Account. We will be very sorry to see you go.
-
Can I view the site on my phone?
The Mooring Manager account is not available on the phone. However, it can be used on an iPad or similar tablet.
-
How do I know if a boat owner has booked a suitable slip for his boat?
The boat owner registers their boat and its dimensions on The Waypoint, and then only sees slips of larger than his boat size. We currently record length, draft, air draft and beam.
-
How far in advance can I set vacancy?
As far into the future as you like. We recommend one year for visitor berths.
-
How do I get my slip holders to tell me when they are not using their slip?
If you authorize your slip holder to, they can have access to their berth's calendar — so they can set their own availability.
-
How much does it cost to accept bookings online?
The Waypoint is free to get setup with. You can setup your profile, and use The Waypoint as a listing directory.
We believe in a fair pay-as-you-go model that you can cancel at no penalty, any time.
When a customer books a visitor slip, The Waypoint will take 15% of the slip marked price as the transaction cost and pass on the rest to the mooring manager's account.

Can I take booking from abroad?
Yes, Boaters can pay in their home currency and it is automatically converted at your home currency price.
This means you always get the money you are asking for, and can take more bookings from more people in more languages any time. -
How do I know I have a booking?
You get a distinctive formatted email from The Waypoint to tell you that you have a booking and the details of that booking. The email also provides you a link to take you to the overview page on the site.
-
I just have swinging buoys, can I book these online?
Yes, Just select the right mooring type so your visitor is aware. You can also leave instructions, which are sent to your visitor in an email and are accessible from their account.
-
What other types of mooring does The Waypoint support?
All types, including buoys, double point buoys, piles (fore and aft), quays and docks, swing moorings, rafted visitors and privately owned moorings.
-

Yes, you just need to index the berth code to however many boats you wish to raft, and leave instructions on the berth pages which get emailed to visitors.
-
How do I know bookings are confirmed?
Your booking is held in a pending state until 2 days before the booking starts, at which point money is paid to the marina's account, and you are also sent an email to confirm the booking.
-
What happens if you have to use a booked berth, or a berth goes out of commission?
Your visitor is given a nominal berth code, which you can change when they arrive. If your booking is confirmed then under the terms of using The Waypoint you are required to find space — not necessarily that which is booked.
-
How do I give my berth holders access to their berth page and calendar?
Ask your berth holder to register himself with The Waypoint and he can claim the berth you have allocated to him. You then have to approve his claim, and he then has access, from his "my marina" page.
-
What if my berth holder comes back early and their berth has been booked using the Waypoint?
Your berth holder has set his availability which commits him to abide by the terms of the site, which is a 2 day cancellation window. You might opt to use an incentive program to help participation in date keeping from your berth holders.
-
What if a visitor books over the VHF or phone?
The easy calendar scheduler will show you all the available spaces. Select a mooring and make that mooring unavailable by pressing the "make unavailable" button to fill the spot with a walk in type visitor.

Can I override the vacancy setting, even of berths occupied by berth holders?
